Personal & Corporate Life Coach
Andy Turnbull
Having been born and brought up in Surrey, I studied Economics and Politics at Exeter University in the early 1990s, where I also met my wife. Upon graduating, I considered entering a caring profession but in the end moved to the midlands and studied for an accountancy qualification. After leaving KPMG, I moved into the charity sector and held senior finance roles in various charities. I have had an interesting and successful 15 year career in charity finance, most recently as Finance Director for an international animal welfare charity. I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management.
Having had an interest in psychology, personal growth and development for all my adult life, I was looking for a coaching approach that brought together these interests. My view is that a fulfilling life comes from being more ourselves, becoming aware of and unlearning the conditioning that we acquired as we found our place in society, accepting ourselves with compassion and learning to trust our intuition. Having done much reading around personal development and exploring different coaching styles, I felt like I had come home when I found the UnitiveTM coaching approach and I found the accreditation programme very rewarding. It has been said that “the truth will set you free” and I have found that becoming aware of my own conditioning, quietly hidden below the surface, has opened up more freedom and choice for me.
I have always been interested in the still small voice within and keep coming back to quiet meditation in one way or another, whether it be guided meditation, Tai Chi or just sitting on the train in the rush hour! I enjoy cooking and sailing and, following the theme of coming home, I once again live in Surrey, now with my wife - and a couple of happy chickens.
